Prof. Jelena Simić, Ph.D., was appointed an Associate Professor in 2020 and she teaches the following courses: Fundamental Civil and Commercial Law, Property Law, and Medical Law, as well as Master’s course: Health and Human Rights.

Born in 1977, graduated in 2003 from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, in 2008 earned her Master’s degree from the Faculty of Law, Union University in Belgrade (Master’s thesis: Legal Protection of Nasciturus and Nondum Conceptus), in 2011 earned her Ph.D. title at the Faculty of Law, Union University in Belgrade (Ph.D. dissertation: Civil Liability for Medical Error). She passed the bar exam in 2009.

Since 2014 she has been the Head of the Legal Clinic for Medical Law at the Faculty of Law, Union University. She has participated as a legal expert in the implementation of dozens of projects in the field of human rights protection. She participated in the working groups for the drafting of the following laws: Model Law on Gender Identity (as a co-author); Law on Prohibition of Discrimination, adopted in March 2009 (Secretary of the Working Group) and Law on Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, adopted in April 2006 (Secretary of the Working Group). Since the founding of the faculty scientific journal “Legal Records”, she has been secretary of the journal (2010 -2016). She acts as a consultant on projects of domestic and international organizations in the domain of human rights. Extensive research experience resulted in a number of scientific articles in the field of medical law and human rights, as well as in participation in numerous national and international scientific and conferences.
